Question and Answers
About to PCS for 1st time from OKC to Beale AFB, CA in Oct. Kinda starting to freak out. The more I try to find info on what we're gonna need to do, the more I realize I have no idea where to start!
If anybody has ANY helpful tips, it would be vey much appreciated. I'm trying to stay calm about it all, but we've been here at TInker AFB for the past 9 years and this is a first for both of us. We've got 4 little ones, and the oldest will be in first grade next year, so school info for the area would be great, too. Thanks so much in advance.

Hi! Check out the PCS blog series on www.SargesList.com. There are some great tips there. Also, for schools www.GreatSchools.org gives ratings based on test scores and has parent comments!
http://www.militarywives.com/ Is the first resource I used for our first move which also was to BEALE AFB. I printed my labels from their web site to keep our stuff organized. It is still our favorite base, we would love to return. One of our friends who has children (our's are grown) is still there: Melissa McMullen (lissylu@comcast.net) They have rabbits that I believe are their 4-H projects and they have horses. Melissa is active at the base chapel, near the residential area. Last I heard the children still attend elementary school on the base. Families who live on base walk to the school to meet their children to walk home with them. It is idealic. I guess I shouldn't expect you to live on base, but we sure enjoyed it. So if you can, I encourage you to give it a try. Northern California is truely god's country. It is beautiful with mild seasons, summer can get hot, but I am not sure if it is any hotter than at Tinker. I could ramble on and on. Please e-mail me any time with your questions and concerns, and give Melissa a try as she is still there and has children at home.
