I just moved to Arizona and wouldn't you know it my Porsche started leaking oil. I ended up going to see Frank at Beck's Porsche Shop and I'm glad that I did.
Frank is very nice, honest guy. In addition to some oil leaking problems, I also had a problem with my horn. Originally the dealership told me that the horn and airbag assembly was a $1500 repair job. Frank and his team did the job for a couple hundred dollars.
Frank is very personable and a true Porsche enthusiast. I'll certainly be back again. If you own a BMW or Porsche, I'd suggest stopping by Beck's European.

In April of 2008 I was referred by my eye doctor to go see Dr. Volpicelli for a Lasik procedure. I was incredibly pleased with the results and the process. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and really takes the time to make sure you are the right candidate for the procedure and to make you at ease with the process.
I highly recommend Dr. Volpicelli. A true professional and very talented. I'm just sorry that I didn't go see him sooner.

We've been dieing to find a great Chinese restaurant in the San Mateo area and we finally have. Apus is fantastic. We usually do take out and a personal favorite is the Lemon Chicken. Very reasonable prices. Great food. No complaints!

We recently had Andrew and Bay Coast Stone do the demo and install of new tile in our master bath. We went with a travertine and Andrew did an amazing job of turning our master bath in to a little work of art. He's part artist, part tile guy, and pays an incredible amount of attention to detail. (I'm serious about the artist part. In his other life, he's an artist and painter). Andrew was very easy going, hard working, honest, and a fun guy to be around.
What's even better was the pricing and timeliness of the job. They worked all day and through the weekend to have our new bathroom together in less than a week. His pricing was extremely fair.
I highly recommend Bay Coast Tile and Andrew.

I've been taking our cars to Pristine Auto Detail for many years. These guys are fantastic if you need to get your car detailed. Their prices are very reasonable as well.
You're always bound to find these guys detailing some phenomenal vehicles, especially when it's time for the Concours d'Elegance. If car collectors trust them to detail their cars, I think you can as well.

I attended the Decker Communications Made to Stick class last week and it was incredibly valuable. The Made to Stick class is a one day class designed to help you create messaging that "sticks" with your audience. So whether you're giving a sales presentation, sending out an internal email, or updating your web content, this class helps you to create messages that stick with your audience long after the meeting, the email, or visiting your web site.
I've been to many different training classes over the years and this was by far the most organized and engaging class that I've been to. They ask that you show up to the class with a one to two minute pitch. You'll be video taped in the morning (you're opening pitch) and spend the rest of the day applying the concepts learned in the class to make your pitch better and more sticky. By the end of the day you'll be taped again to see the improvement.
In our class we worked in teams of six people to help refine one another's pitches as we went through the class. By the end of the day, I left with some messaging that was ten times better than when I showed up and could be put in to action the next day.
The instructor, Kelly, was fantastic and the whole session was incredibly professional and well organized. If you're in corporate marketing or sales, I highly recommend that you take this class and call Decker Communications.

Gray's Paint store in Burlingame is a great place to go when you're looking for Benjamin Moore paints. I've been there several times now and always find the folks that work there to be extremely knowledgeable and helpful.
They have an outstanding selection of paints including a new designer series called C2 that's pretty cool. A little more expensive but a great color palette to choose from. The C2 paint will require two coats but didn't require a primer. I painted over a blue wall with a new tan color and managed to get by just fine with only two coats.
Only complaint would be the hours they are open on the weekend (Saturday until 4, Sunday closed).

I went to Teskes Germania this past weekend to celebrate Festivus and a friend's 35th birthday. If you're going to visit, no need to get dressed up. The restaurant/ bar is somewhat of a traditional german restaurant with a bar in the front and some long tables in the back. Unlike Germany though, the tables weren't the long tables with benches you might be used to in the tents of Octoberfest. The idea was the same though... communal dining.
I lived in Germany for about three months and was always a fan of the pork knuckles so I gave that a try at Teske's. While not the best pork flank I've ever had, it was a great meal, very hearty portion, and the potato side dish and crout was fantastic.
The beer selection is quite good. Plenty of Pilsners, Weisen, and Dunkel beers on tap or in the bottle. So pony up and order a liter in a classic tent stein.
The decor is nothing to write home about and probably hasn't been updated since the early 70s. If you're trying to impress a date, this place is probably not going to do the trick for you. If you're with a big group who's looking to put down a couple steins of German beer and want to prost with the band, then Teskes is a fun night out.

Alana's is easily my favorite breakfast spot in the San Mateo/ Burlingame area. The food is excellent and the staff even better. I feel like Norm from Cheers when I go there. They always know what I'm going to have.... Company's Coming with an English muffin. It's the perfect scramble of egg, sausage, cheese, potatoes, and herbs. If you've been looking for a great breakfast spot in the area, look no further. You won't be disappointed. Oh... and try the Swedish oatmeal pancakes. They are outstanding. If you order something else, do yourself a favor and order one pancake on the side.

I called Greg at Athens Plumbing based upon a recommendation on IC and I was so glad that I did. On a moments notice he was able to come over and take a look at a leaky toilet that I was unable to fix. Greg was able to diagnose the problem and have the toilet fixed in about 20 minutes.
While the job wasn't that big of a job, what I really liked about Greg was his attitude. He is a very engaging, spirited, fun guy. Needless to say he also seems to really know his stuff and has been a plumber for quite some time.
Because Greg finished the job so quickly he offered to look at any other plumbing related problems we might have had. He also checked out our water heater and our furnace for free while giving me some advice on how to do some simple preventative maintenance on them. He was just one of the nicest guys I've met in a long time.
Two thumbs up and thank you Seibo for the recommendation to give Greg a ring.
