In April of 2008 I was referred by my eye doctor to go see Dr. Volpicelli for a Lasik procedure. I was incredibly pleased with the results and the process. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and really takes the time to make sure you are the right candidate for the procedure and to make you at ease with the process.
I highly recommend Dr. Volpicelli. A true professional and very talented. I'm just sorry that I didn't go see him sooner.

We recently had Andrew and Bay Coast Stone do the demo and install of new tile in our master bath. We went with a travertine and Andrew did an amazing job of turning our master bath in to a little work of art. He's part artist, part tile guy, and pays an incredible amount of attention to detail. (I'm serious about the artist part. In his other life, he's an artist and painter). Andrew was very easy going, hard working, honest, and a fun guy to be around.
What's even better was the pricing and timeliness of the job. They worked all day and through the weekend to have our new bathroom together in less than a week. His pricing was extremely fair.
I highly recommend Bay Coast Tile and Andrew.

My roommate dropped off a blouse for me at University Cleaners that had a few water stains on it that needed to be removed. After our thanksgiving break, we returned and picked up the blouse along with some other items. A few days later, I went to try the blouse on and realized that a part of it looked as if it had been shredded! The next morning I went back to the cleaners to discuss what had happened and inquire about possible reimbursement. The very sweet lady who works there tried to contact her boss, but could not reach him. She took my number and said she would call later. She then called saying that the blouse had been dropped off already damaged, which I know 100% is not true. I stopped in later after work, and she said they were not responsible for what happened to my blouse. I requested to speak to the owner and she reached him on the phone. Over the phone, I told the owner that I was extremely upset about what happened to my blouse and that something should be done about it. The owner proceeded to scream at me and use phrases like "f*** you", "he did not care one bit about what happened to my shirt" and "it is not his problem". He then hung up on me. I am very offended by the way I was treated and dissapointed in the lack of customer service this place offered me (a long time customer).

Bogart's Lounge is a great place to go out and have fun in the evenings without having to deal with the usual dive bar crowd. They have karaoke in the evenings on Wed, Fri, and Sun if that is what you are into. I love to play pool, and there is usually a few people there that love a good competition. It does get crowded in the evenings on the weekends, so If you want to get to play, it is best to get there a little early.Weekdays are less crowded, So you can always get some games in, while enjoying a beer or two. They have Wi-Fi, so you can always use your laptop there if needed.

Great pies, completely kid friendly, they even have a kids-make-their-own pizza night. They also do classroom tours for local school children. Great local joint that makes great food and gives back to the community.

Perfect for the youngest patients...it is your perfect idea for a children's dentist. I can't say enough about their staff, care and beside manner.

Jeff Reitmeir is an AWESOME German car mechanic in Los Altos. He is the 2nd generation of Reitmeirs in this shop. He is honest and never has me fix/replace/service the car unless it is really due. Cost is always less than the MB dealer. The only downer is that because he is a family shop, he doesn't have loaner cars. (But he's right on Foothill, so it's a good bike ride down the peninsula.)

I went to Teskes Germania this past weekend to celebrate Festivus and a friend's 35th birthday. If you're going to visit, no need to get dressed up. The restaurant/ bar is somewhat of a traditional german restaurant with a bar in the front and some long tables in the back. Unlike Germany though, the tables weren't the long tables with benches you might be used to in the tents of Octoberfest. The idea was the same though... communal dining.
I lived in Germany for about three months and was always a fan of the pork knuckles so I gave that a try at Teske's. While not the best pork flank I've ever had, it was a great meal, very hearty portion, and the potato side dish and crout was fantastic.
The beer selection is quite good. Plenty of Pilsners, Weisen, and Dunkel beers on tap or in the bottle. So pony up and order a liter in a classic tent stein.
The decor is nothing to write home about and probably hasn't been updated since the early 70s. If you're trying to impress a date, this place is probably not going to do the trick for you. If you're with a big group who's looking to put down a couple steins of German beer and want to prost with the band, then Teskes is a fun night out.

Excellent wine bar. Small but very nice wine selection, great cheeses and very nice wine pairings. They do all kinds of evening and special group events that keep the place hopping. Standing room only on Saturday nights. Perfect for a night on the town that is still close to home.
