Goes without saying...Labs are THE best pups for kids...no bias of course. and if you consider getting a lab...i strongly recommend Belgarin Labs (breeder where we got Wonka)
Are you kidding me Rob? Of course there is a dog for your particular situation. The next concerns are how old are your kids, their experience with dogs, your committment to training and walking. Yes, a lab is a great dog have one and have had several. They are nuts as adolecents (see Marley and me) and they shed a small throw rug a week.We also have a Bichon Frise and she is our second. She does not shed, has personality plus and fits in your lap, loves to hike and is great for large or small yards.
We had 3 Labrador Retrievers and all have been great with kids. The only concern is their tales that wag so much that sometimes whap the kids
Golden retrievers for sure. Especially females. Or, if shedding or allergies may be a problem a golden doodle or labradoodle. They are mellow and tolerant and love everybody.
Based on personal experience and interactions with our customers, you can't go wrong with Golden Retrievers or Labs. That being said, there are PLENTY of other breeds that are suitable for children: Beagles, Boston Terriers, Clumber Spaniels, Collies, Great Danes, English and Irish Setters, Newfoundlands, Poodles, Pugs, Siberian Huskies....too many to name! Just remember that breed and temperament are more important than size when choosing a dog for families with young children. Good luck!
